And, number 4. With this one the set is done. Read below for easy way to get a sketch!
If you come by these, let me know which you like most of all.
Others are the Mad king of Asgard, Dark Royalty and Midnight black. If anyone can leave me a PROPER critique about which is best and why you might win a special prompt sketch of Loki. One you can choose, although I draw a few limits of things I do and don't. So.... that ought to be worthy. See you again soon, and give it a try, it's an easy way to win. But make sure to put some thought in it, I won't go for: "I love this because he is sexy..." doesn't cut it. I really need feedback and this is the way to get it
I like how you approach your line quality. It's very clean and readable. However, I think you can push the rendering a bit more. Right now his nose is formless. Add more shadow to his left side to bring out the form of the nose more. Don't forget that his nose also have a cast shadow.
The lips need a little more rendering. The upper lip is a little thin.
All in all, this is a good start. I think with the above mentioned corrections. Really push the contrast in the face itself. Find some Andrew Loomis references for drawing heads. The head is a series of planes, with the face having most of the plane changes. Use those plane changes to push the lights and shadows to their potential.
His expression is calm and intense at the same time and that's usually the face that he makes.
I've never seen him with a head piece like this, I think it is very detailed and beautiful. I also like how the collar of his shirt matches his head piece.
I would make the nose more defined, It looks too light compared to the rest of the picture. I also think that the ears are too high and should be moved down quite a bit.
Over all I think it's a great piece and just needs a few small changes.
Hi... I'm super late to answer this, but my laptop doesn't deal too well with heatwaves so I've been confined to my Phone for months.... Anyhoo, I don't have old drawings lying around on da but you can count that my old stuff is just hilarious. I have this one drawing I remember quite well. I drew him from a World of Warcraft comic book. And his head was the same size as his chest and his legs were also the same size and gods he looks like a munchkin with spaghetti leg and it's soooooo funny to look at it because it was a serious drawing and gods look at it....
That elvish thing with the drabble has had a set-back. I designed my own armour on them, and Loki's was super cool and intricate and sophisticated and Thor's looked so baaaaad. SO I redid the drawing and also redid composition and will get to, shade it soon. I decided for shading first, colour later, maybe. It will be here soon I think. In the mean time... I drew soft porn.... XD so proud that I finally drew naked people. It's in my gallery
Horny laptops unnfff. That reminds me of some unsettling pics I once saw about i-Phone adapters... it was really bad.
And just for the record, everything about Tom is porn, just so you know...
It looks just like a real photo! I haven`t seen this crown-thingy before, it`s really nice! I love the amount of light in this one, the eyes, the smile, the perfect symmetry, basically everything
Would you mind me using it as my wallpaper?
For me, this one takes the cake. His eyes are intense, and out of all 4, this is the one facing fully forward. The narrow look is my favorite look for Loki. It's as if he's hunting you, and gives you a feeling that he sees into your soul (but in a good way)!
I love the lighting. It may seem too intense, but I appreciate how bright it is! It's like sunlight!
It seems you might have had an easier time with the right side of the drawing than with the left. The right side has more flow, and the left side has less flow. On the other hand, it can represent two sides of Loki, metaphorically: one side being his softer, more sane side, and his darker half the more "renegade" side.
Now about the headpiece:
The details you place into these drawings never ceases to amaze me! All the folds of the headpiece are easy to follow, and each line is going somewhere, including the curves over his ears, and it gives a vivid image to the imagination! You don't just sketch out lines and make it look like a headpiece--it IS a headpiece, and every nook and cranny; curve and flow; every bead and jewel is its own character in this piece! The headpieces have this Elvish style, and it suits Loki very well! It is elegant, and I see elegance in Loki.
Same with the design on his collar! You have a consistent pattern, and still mirrors his style. In the other 3, you have Loki in (correct me if I'm wrong) a cloak (The Mad King of Asgard), a shirt (Dark Royalty), and a cloak and pin (Midnight Black). This one has him in a tunic. To me, it seems that he's progressed from prince, to full-out KING in this image. He is royally dressed, pampered, and not just with a headpiece; this could pass as a Crown! At least that's how I see it.
The only things I would change:
While I do appreciate the uneven flow of both sides, I think if you make both sides flow (like the right side), it would do much good to this image. Keep the darkness, keep the contrast, but making both sides flow could bring out the elegance.
I keep looking at the lips. They just seem a little long. I would say keep the dark line for the sake of the smirk, but maybe have the skin of his lips stop before the line runs out. Thin lips, but a long smirk, if that makes sense (the picture where he's narrowly glaring [can find it on Google Images if you type in "loki avengers], has a good smirk reference I think... Actually, come to look at it, I bet you used that very image as a reference already for this!)
All in all, I hope that helps! This is a wonderful, beautiful masterpiece, and I hope I didn't go on too long!
Keep up all the wonderful work!
Ah yes.... the headpiece. That bloody thing gave me nightmares. I made the left side first, and then I came to the right side, and realised it had to mirror the other side perfectly.... Well fuck... You can be glad you never saw me drawing it... I ushered a few words in both english and my Original language that were not too kind. I Always need to make everything look physically possible, so every line starts and ends somewhere... Otherwise I would have lost track and cried.
Everyone thinks I had an idea behind all this... but I just made the mad king... and realised how large his forehead is... and empty... and I hate empty space in my drawings... so I made pretty Lokis because I needed to fill up that space... The secret revealed. The lips however, I must slightly disagree on... I had them shorter... but it made it look as if he was chewing on his bottomlip or something... almost pouting... and this was so much better... but I will keeep the rest in mind!
Also... sorry... I picked a different winner... but I still love that you write such sweet comments each time! I do appreciate them I swear!
Because you wanted to fill an empty space! That's actually a very good reason for these, because they really are elegant and wonderful! Loki with a headpiece. It really does honor the royalty part!
I'm glad you agree on a lot of what I said, and I'm glad if I am able to help! Your work is still amazing!
Then that winner is very lucky! I'm just glad you remember my comments!
(I'd try to come up with something deeper to say; but I'm not even fully awake yet, so I got nothing. )
